Vehicle Stolen or Hijacked

Vehicle Stolen or Hijacked

  1. Report the theft within 24 hours and obtain a SAP case number
  2. Please print, complete and sign the attached claim form: (Remember that the insured is the name the policy appears in, if the policy is issued in the name of a company, the company is the insured. The details for the driver at the time of the accident must be completed in the space indicated as the driver.)
  3. Attach the following details:
    • A copy of your driver’s license and ID document (please enlarge the driver’s license if possible as the insurer can often not use the fax copy of drivers licenses which are kept at the normal size)
    • The name and telephone number of your contact from the Finance House
    • Confirmation of the outstanding balance (if applicable) with the Finance House
    • Whilst we will endeavor to obtain the original registration certificate from your Finance House, claims can be sped up if you request the same from the Finance House at this point.
  4. Email the claim form and finance house details to your portfolio manager.
  5. If you have opted for car hire cover on your policy, a hire car will be arranged for the period of the claim.
  6. We will also need the following in order to finalise the claim:
    • Your spare set of keys
    • 2 x change of ownership forms (yellow NCO forms) which can be collected at any traffic department. Please date and sign the blocks for the seller (you are transferring any ownership of the vehicle to the insurance company in case it is later recovered).
  7. Once we have all the required documentation, an assessor will be appointed who will contact you directly to assess the claim.
  8. [null]Upon receiving the original registration certificate, we will settle the outstanding balance with the insurance company (up to a maximum of the current retail value of the vehicle or the insured amount, whichever is the lesser, less the excess). Any additional amounts (the difference between the claim amount less the excess and the amount paid to the Finance house) will be paid to you.
